Ruby on Rails Development training

Posted by Torey Heinz on August 4, 2010

Recently I read an article from Keith of Collective Idea, about the reality of all the work that is pouring into the rails community. The premise was that as a community if we are not able to meet the demand of companies seeking rails development they will begin to look else where (like PHP). As IHS moves forward and continues to grow, I feel the pressure of this in my own company. In the near past I have been able to outsource some work to other local developers when the need was there, but now I hear maybe in a month or two! This has prompted me to begin training two apprentices to handle the growing need for web development services. Nick (left), a 17 year old, 6' 7" rugby player at West Ottawa, worked for IHS last summer as an intern. This summer he has been building Harmony websites, and has been pairing with me to accelerate his training. Brian (right), responded to an informal email about IHS's need for a web programmer, and through a very informal phone interview we decided to begin a training process. You can look forward to working one or both of these talented young men in the next few months.

It’s great to see that IHS is growing, and that you’ve been able to find and mentor young web devs. Here’s to your continued success, Torey!

The training is going very well, we’re learning really fast!
